Prof Pilvikki Absetz and Dr Dominika Kwasnicka conducted a 2-day workshop on career development for our Connected Health NHMRC CRE trainees on 27th and 28th Sept; it was attended by 6 CDP and 5 other members of Brian’s Baker research team.

 

Workshop Objective

In an engaging and relaxed atmosphere, the team members had an opportunity to discuss and develop plans for their future careers.

2-day program:

  1. To discuss career strategy and how to best set oneself up for a successful career.
  2. To define one’s career goals and aspirations and to specify how to best achieve them.
  3. To hear from other successful researchers about how they navigated their career journeys.
  4. To discuss “imposter syndrome” and how to best overcome it.
  5. To analyze one’s social networks in relation to one’s career.
  6. To workshop one’s CV and how to best tailor it for a suitable job.
  7. To discuss work-life balance.
