Dr Shariful Islam (MBBS, MPH, PhD, FESC) is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition, Deakin University. He leads the National Heart Foundation funded wearable blood pressure device project. His research focuses on using innovative mHealth, sensors, wearable devices and artificial intelligence for improving cardiovascular and metabolic health. Shariful is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, member of the ITU-WHO Working Group on Artificial Intelligence for Health and leads the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand position statement on Artificial Intelligence in Cardiology. He collaborates with the Global Burden of Diseases at the University of Washington, Seattle and the NCD Risk Factor Collaboration (NCD-RisC). Shariful has published more than 140 articles in peer-reviewed journals including BMJ, The Lancet and Nature Medicine with more than 16,500 citations (Google Scholar).
