Professor Peter Brooks – Celebration of his achievements at Northern Health

Northern Health Research and Northern Health Foundation recently celebrated Professor Peter Brooks’ wonderful achievements as their Research Director over many years. The inaugural Professor Peter Brooks Oration was delivered by Professor Catherine Itsiopoulos (RMIT); she highlighted Peter’s passion for health care research and health workforce reform over a life time, particularly his pioneering thinking in relation to virtual care and health care delivery models which he championed over more than three decades. Indeed, his leadership in implementing virtual care and telehealth at Northern Health – particularly during the Covid pandemic – has become foundational for so much other research and the transformation of healthcare delivery there. Much of this work has also involved a partnership over the last 4 years with the Connected Health NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence, with which Peter has been a Co-Investigator as well as Chair of the Centre’s Advisory Board.
