The development of a smart ecosystem to support people with heart failure

Date: 9 May 2024

Time: 3.00pm to 4.00pm (Melbourne Time zone) https://bakeridi.zoom.us/j/98895735259?pwd=SmhRNTJRWDFQaU0yRlBhQk56aytIZz09

Dr Zhang and Dr Jansons will discuss the development an NHMRC IDEAS grant led by Prof Ralph Maddison, CIB of the NHMRC CRE in Interactive Digital Technology to Transform Australia’s Chronic Disease Outcomes: SmartHeart A smart ecosystem to support people with heart failure. SmartHeart will deploy state-of-the-art sensing technologies to understand people with heart failure’s behaviours and symptoms, and deliver individualised support to improve self-management, health outcomes, and reduce hospital admissions and mortality in this priority population. We have used co- design and participatory research methods to develop the SmartHeart ecosystem with end users and healthcare providers as active participants in the process. The feasibility and acceptability of implementing our Smart-Heart ecosystem alongside existing health services for the management of heart failure will be explored so that Smart-Heart can be rapidly translated into practice.

Consumer Informatics: Current Challenges and Future Opportunities

Date: 13 June 2024

Time: 3.00pm to 4.00pm (Melbourne Time zone) https://bakeridi.zoom.us/j/98895735259?pwd=SmhRNTJRWDFQaU0yRlBhQk56aytIZz09

Consumer Informatics investigates the ‘impact’, ‘design’ and ‘science’ of digital technology for patients and consumers. In this presentation, we will present the Consumer Informatics research program at the Australian Institute of Health (AIHI) Innovation within Macquarie University. A/Prof Lau, along with her team, will give a brief overview of past decades of research in Consumer Informatics as health services attempt to deliver person-centred care using consumer-facing technology. They will also discuss their current research program at AIHI, and future research opportunities. This will be a highly interactive session where members of the audience are encouraged to share their insights on and priorities to help map out the Consumer Informatics research agenda in the next decade.
